Voluntary buyout article in Workforce Management

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Click here to read an interesting article in “Workforce Management” that discusses the risks associated with voluntary “buyouts”. A major risk of voluntary reductions in force is the loss of high-value employees, which can devastate the organization’s capabilities. However, there is a place and time when voluntary RIFs are appropriate.

Our solution, Transition Manager, manages both involuntary and voluntary processes associated with reductions in force. Managing the process to ensure goals are met and key talent is not at risk is the key to success. Additionally, voluntary programs do make business sense and are highly effective when the skill sets of the affected group are on a level playing field. So, while I totally agree with the article, there are times when voluntary events equate to goodwill and good business.

Back from SAP HR

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I spent a couple of days at the SAP HR show in sunny Las Vegas this week. It was great talking with our customers and hearing their challenges in this economy and of course, how OrgPlus has helped them manage their workforce changes. Definitely, a common thread among the conversations was reorganizations and more reorganizations.

Also, many companies (not our customers) talked about the challenges they face in trying to visualize and analyze the financial aspects (i.e. budget and salaries) of their workforce. They were limited in quickly accessing this information for not only departments and business units but the entire organization. When they saw OrgPlus in action, their eyes lit up realizing how the solution easily displayed financial information such as salaries, budgets and performance metrics. I’m always impressed how OrgPlus continues to WOW people!
