Visual Business Intelligence

Monday, April 6th, 2009

At first glance, you may think that “enterprise” organizational charts are just static documents and no big deal.  However, as a seasoned enterprise technology consultant, I knew that “enterprise” organizational charts would be a very complex and powerful offering.

I experienced my first “a-ha” moment when I witnessed a client initially view their ERP data in OrgPlus Enterprise. The first time the client sees their actual data visualized in an OrgPlus organizational chart is when the light bulb goes off for them and they start to see the power of the product. As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

The benefits of onsite training for OrgPlus Enterprise

Monday, February 9th, 2009

When it comes to best practices for using OrgPlus Enterprise, we recommend onsite training so organizations can take full advantage of the solution. Training ensures that OrgPlus Enterprise is being used correctly and helps the user avoid time intensive calls into our Technical Service Department. HumanConcepts offers two courses: Admin Training 1 and Admin Training 2. Each course is 4 hours in length with 45 minutes of hands-on exercises. OrgPlus 8.0.1 released

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Recently released OrgPlus 8.0.1 brings a host of new updates to OrgPlus 8 making user navigation easier and smoother. For example, using Hotspots Word wrap has been improved, as has the field level conditional formatting functionality. When importing data you can now specify the number of columns in multi-record boxes, and when working with orphan records you can now be drag them directly into a chart. These and many other improvements make working with OrgPlus 8 an even better experience than ever.

OrgPlus 8 features

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Released late last year, OrgPlus 8 brings valuable new features to the org charting world. New features improve every user experience, for example, you are now able to track previous changes to charts; you can now analyze workforce changes over time with the auto archiving feature, and are now able to chart more people using less space with the multi-record, multi column feature. The coolest and most valuable addition for me is the ability to publish org charts to OrgPlus OnDemand. This one-of-a-kind ability lets people create charts in OrgPlus 8 then seamlessly publish them to a secure server where they’re available 24/7 and can be shared with colleagues in the next office, or around the globe. Org charting has truly moved into the future.

Organizational Hierarchy in OrgPlus Enterprise

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

One of the most common questions during the OrgPlus Enterprise implementation process is, “How does OrgPlus determine the Manager?” I am usually asked this question when the customer is reviewing their Orphans in the Directory. They are surprised to see how many orphans exist in their data source and would like to know how to correct them. As a Professional Services consultant for HumanConcepts, my team works with the customer to define best practices and prepare their data source to accurately chart their organizational structure. Many times the customer wants their Organization Chart to display and format features that may not be consistent with their reporting relationship structure. We review their data source and provide recommendations on how to achieve their desired results. Continue reading “Organizational Hierarchy in OrgPlus Enterprise” »
